OBITUARY

AGNEW FUNERAL HOME ANNOUNCE WITH DEEPEST SYMPATHY THE PASSING OF MR. RAYMOND HOWARD, OF CENTREVILLE, ALABAMA.

RAYMOND LEE HOWARD WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 5, 1960, IN CENTREVILLE, ALABAMA TO THE LATE ROY AND ALICE HOWARD. HE ACCEPTED CHRIST AT AN EARLY AGE AND WAS BAPTIZED AT THE CHURCH FORMALLY KNOWN AS GOOD HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH IN CENTREVILLE, ALABAMA. 

RAYMOND GRADUATED FROM BIBB COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND IN TALLADEGA, ALABAMA, WHERE HE LEARNED TO COOK AND ENTICE THE PALATE WITH VARIOUS SPICES. THROUGH THE YEARS, HE BECAME PROFICIENT AT ADDING SAUCES AND OTHER INGREDIENTS WHICH MADE FOOD TASTE DELICIOUS. HE OWNED RAYMOND HANDYMAN APPLIANCE REPAIR SERVICE WHERE HE REPAIRED OR REPLACED WASHING MACHINES, DRYERS, REFRIGERATORS, AND FREEZERS. FOR THE LAST NINE YEARS HE WORKED FOR THE WEST ALABAMA PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AGENCY AS A DRIVER. HIS PAST EMPLOYMENT INCLUDED BEING A BAKER AT WALMART IN INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA;  A CHEF AT COURTYARD MARRIOT IN TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA; AND THE SAFETY DIRECTOR, AND DIESEL MECHANIC AT MICHIGAN EXPEDITED TRANSPORTATION SERVICE IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN WHERE HE ALSO ATTENDED A DIESEL MECHANIC SCHOOL.

RAYMOND TALKED TO EVERYONE, CARED FOR EVERYONE, AND DID WHATEVER HE COULD FOR EVERYONE . HE ALWAYS TRIED AND TALKED ABOUT BRINGING THE FAMILY TOGETHER. IF HE EVER GAVE YOU A HARSH WORD OR TOUGH LOVE, HE WOULD EVENTUALLY COME BACK WITH LOVING KINDNESS. HE WAS ALSO KNOWN AS "RAINBOW FLAVOR", "RAINBOW BABY", "RAYMOAN", OR "BRU-N-LAW", AND EVEN IF HE WAS NOT YOUR UNCLE , HE WAS "UNCLE RAYMOND." HE WAS ALSO WHAT WE CALL A JACK-OF ALL-TRADES. HE WAS A MECHANIC, CHEF, AND HANDYMAND. NO MATTER WHAT IT WAS HE WOULD SAY "LET ME SEE ABOUT THAT THERE" AND HE WOULD GET TO WORKING ON IT. IF HE HAD A CHALLENGE TRYING TO FIX SOMETHING HE ALWAYS FOUND A WAY TO FIX IT. HE LOVED TO COOK AND TRY OUT DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS OF INGREDIENTS . HE WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR COOKING HIS COOLER BARBEQUE RIBS AND POTS OF MIXED GREENS AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN BETWEEN. JUST LIKE HIS MOM, HE ALWAYS HAD SOMETHING COOKING IN THE KITCHEN. 

PERCEDING HIM IN DEATH IN ORDER BY BIRTH HIS BROTHER JAMES CONNELL; SISTER, MARY RHODES; AND BROTHERS OSCAR HOWARD SR., AND ROY THOMAS HOWARD.

HE LEAVES TO CHERISH HIS MEMORY: HIS SON, TAYLOR HOWARD; SISTER, GLORIA JOHNSON (ERIC); BROTHER-IN-LAW TIMOTHY RHODES SR. (PATTY); SISTER-IN-LAW, SHELLY HOWARD AND JOANN HOWARD; AND A HOST OF NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS, AND FRIENDS.

 

VISITATATION WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY MORNING,  APRIL 10, 2024  BEFORE THE SERVICE FROM 9:30 A.M. UNTIL 11:00 A.M. IN THE AGNEW FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10, 2024,  AT 11:00 AM, AT THE AGNEW FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL. 1110 BAPTIST HILL, GREENSBORO, AL.  AND INTERMENT WILL FOLLOW IN THE RHODES FAMILY CEMETERY 7026 COUNTY ROAD 17, SAWYERVILLE, AL. 

REPAST WILL TAKE PLACE AT RHODES FAMILY CENTER 7026 COUNTY ROAD 17 SAWYERVILLE, ALABAMA 36776
