OBITUARY

IT IS SADDENEND TO ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF MRS. BERNICE H. EPPES WHO ENTERED ETERNAL REST ON MARCH 28, 2024. 

"SHE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED BECAUSE SHE WAS SO WELL LOVED"

MRS. EPPES DEPARTED THIS LIFE PEACEFULLY SURROUNDED BY HER CHILDREN. SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER HUSBAND, JAMES EPPES, HER PARENTS, SISTERS, DOROTHY HINTON HAMILTON , MARY BELTON, BROTHERS DONALD LEE HINTON AND ABRAM HINTON, JR.

SISTER BERNICE CONFESSED CHRIST AT AN EARLY AGE AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN AKRON , ALABAMA WHERE SHE SERVED AS AN USHER ON THE USHER BOARD FOR MANY YEARS. SHE WAS A FAITHFUL AND DEVOTED MEMBER OF ANTIOCH MISSIONARY BABPTIST CHURCH.

SISTER BERNICE RECIEVED HER EARLY EDUCATION AT HALE COUNTY TRAINING SCHOOL LOCATED IN GREENSBORO, ALABAMA , AND RECIEVED HER BACHHELOR'S DEGREE IN SECONDARY MATH EDUCATION  FROM STILLMAN COLLEGE LOCATED IN TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA. SISTER BERNICE RETIRED FROM HALE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION AFTER 34 YEARS OF SERVICE IN 1997 AS A HIGH SCHOOL MATH EDUCATOR. MRS. EPPES TOUCHED MANY GENERATIONS IN HALE COUNTY. SHE ENJOYED SEWING AS WELL AS BAKING AND BLESSING OTHERS WITH CARAMEL CAKES, CUPCAKES, AND TEACAKES.

BERNICE LEAVES TO CHERISH HER MEMORIES HER FOUR DAUGHTERS, STARWANTHIA (TONY) LEE, SHALANDRA (WILLIAM) MARTIAN, SHATONYA (TAURUS) BLACKMON, AND SHATANYA (JOHNNEY) FORD; GRANDCHILDREN, AERIEL (DANNY) COLEMAN AND AND AARON LEE, ORIENNE AND OMAR LEWIS; IVY EPPES AND IYA FORD; LOVING SISTER, DORSENIA THOMAS, GREENSBORO, AL., BROTHER IN LAW  JOHHNY (BETTYE) EPPES; YPSILANTI, MI; SISTER IN LAWS; SARAH HINTON, HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA; MARY EPPES, TUSCALOOSA, AL. LOIS (TOMMY) FURLOW, CHICAGO, IL; LEALIA MARKS, JEAN EPPES, HELEN EPPES, LOVE V. EPPES, AND MAE FRANCIS EPPES;  A HOST OF NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS, AND FRIENDS.

VISITATION WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY,  APRIL 5, 2024, FROM 12:00 NOON UNTIL 4:00 P.M. AT THE AGNEW FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL 1110 BAPTIST HILL, GREENSBORO, AL. 36744

CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, APRIL 6, 2024, AT 2:00 P.M. AT THE BASS TABERNALCE C.M.E. CHURCH 22890 COUNTY ROAD 32, AKRON, ALABAMA  WHERE REVEREND WILLIE GARNETT IS PASTOR, AND INTERMENT WILL FOLLOW IN THE THOMAS FAMILY CEMETERY 1741 COUNTY ROAD 85, GREENSBORO, AL. 

PASTOR FARRELL CADDELL, OFFICIANT 

REPAST WILL FOLLOW AT STAR OF BETHLEHEM C.M.E. CHHURCH 32888 AL-69, MOUNDVILLE, AL. 36744
